It was another beautiful day in the Rockies. What little snow we got is gone.

I'M pretty busy right now so I don;t know how often I'll be posting. It only takes a minuet to stop by and see what's new.

Ya know how they blow down buildings? Well the people who are doing the I-25 expansion set charges to drop two over passes. Only one came down. Colorado...what a concept ;^)

It's been snowing for the last two days. We have about 3", and the temp is in the high 20's. I don't imagine it will stick around long, just enough to keep the ground good and muddy.

Saturday, March 27, 2004

Jeannie and me laid around all day and didn't do a damn thing. Our snow storm came in, but it's not really snowing just cloudy and cool. So now were going out to dinner.

Don't forget to check the photo links when you stop by. I add new ones every few days. The latest is of Lake Granby taken from about 20 miles north west, and a couple thousand feet above. One of our forest road trips. We take as many as we can and have seen a lot of Colorado. We still haven't made it to Aspen, but it's on the trip list. We went to Vail last year, one of Colorado's famous resorts. Sounds like it should be one of those quaint little alpine ski villages. It's a mountain side crammed with over priced condos and an interstate running threw the middle of it. It probably was a nice place once.
Colorado has a few ski areas right on the interstate, Copper Mountain and A Basin are all that come to mind, but it makes them easy to access. No 11,000 Ft pass to cross like Winter Park and Mary Jane.
Wondering who's having sex in the barn?? On second thought.........

Yes Tim I did and thanks again, I guess I forgot to call you. I need another part so I was going to call you but I keep forgetting. It sucks getting old!!

Big Bear is burning...Bummer. I hope they get it out. We have had 3 fires so far and fire season is still 6 months away. Of course with the beetle kill being so bad, fire season is a year round thing now.

Got an email from our friends Lil and Larry who live in New Mexico. Lil says it's been hot there. Guess it's been hot all over the west. We got rain today, quit a bit. This is the first time it's rained before the end of May since we've lived here. That's good news for you water suckers down yonder. They say we may get some snow this weekend. We'll see.

I managed to upload another photo to the our photos link. Check it out, you can also leave comments.
I read in one of my construction publications the median price for a home in southern California has reached $351.000. The annual appreciation is about 20.1%. A lot of people have predicted the market would top out a couple years ago. Guess they were wrong. The median price in Denver is $100.000 to $150.000 less, but most of the mountain community's is about the same as California, over valued.

The suns out and it's already pushing 50.
Yesterday was sunny and hot, at least for this time of year. We were in the upper 60's. Today it's cloudy and they are calling for thunder showers in the mountains. Denver had a record high yesterday and is expecting another one today. All this hot weather is great but isn't doing any thing for the water situation. Our snow pack is below normal and that means less water for the front range city's and the down river states that depend on Colorado river water. We have plenty our selves, so da hell wit ya's!!

I added a couple nice rainbow pics to the Yahoo photo link. They were taken last summer on Rabbit ears pass just above Steamboat springs...check em out.

It's another awesome day in the Rockies. A few clouds floating around. Everyone I have run into is in a great mood cause of the weather...yea sun!!

Saturday, March 20, 2004

What an absolutely beautiful day we had today. It was in the upper 60's with just a few stray puffy blue clouds. We have no air pollution round her, just clear and beautiful. Of course nothing has started to bloom yet, that won't happen for another month or so, but it was so nice who cares.

So we did our taxes, owe the feds 6 bucks and have a little coming back from the state. That's pretty much the way we try to do it every year. Would rather have to pay a little than give the feds some interest free cash.

hopefully the great days will keep on coming for us and you to.......:^)
That's great Glo, you just started and already your looking to expand your business into other states. That's just wonderful.

Getting our taxes done today...Oh goody, get to give George a little more money to squander.

It's spring time in the Rockies, and for the first time since we've lived here, it's not snowing. What we do have on the ground is going away pretty fast. Shadow mountain lake is showing signs of thawing. IM sure we'll get a storm or two before the end of May. Guess it's time to store the sled, and set up the old bbq.

Everybody have a great weekend ;^)

...YOUR FIRED!!...
Hi Misty, Hi Daniel...There are jobs here, it just depends on what you want to do. The logging business seems to be picking up, the area is over run with bark beetles and it's killing trees left and right. Whole stands are dead. It's sad because it's so ugly, but it's natures way of renewing unhealthy forests that have been mismanaged for so many years. Lets hear it for the forest service.
We are getting a new City market, they should be breaking ground this month. It should be open this fall.
Construction has been fairly steady and it looks like it will be a good building season. There has been steady growth and lost of stuff in the works, weather it be true or not only time will tell.
IM sure you wouldn't have any trouble finding work.

It's like summer has come early to the Rockies, but it's still to early to tell.

Happy St. Patty's day to all!!
Jeannie told me about the valium thing Glo...LOL, and yes would love a fresh icy cold lemonade, ya got somethin to put in it??
I just love getting emails asking me to verify my credit card numbers or bank account information. What;s amazing is the number of people who fall for it. I just got one from paypal wanting me to varify my credit card information for my paypal account. I don't have a paypal account.

It's overcast...wait, the sun is peeking threw...no there it goes...hate days like this...need some sun!!!

Tuesday, March 16, 2004

Hi Misty, say hi to Daniel for us...
Hi Glo, Glo is laying around in the sun and swimming a lot. Such is the southern California life style. We'll not go into why Glo is laying around in the sun and swimming a lot, we'll only say that we are quit jealous and wish we were laying around in the sun and swimming a lot.
We are tramping around in the gooey mud enduring the spring snows which do nothing more than add more goo to the mud. Could be worse, we could be laying around in the sun and swimming a lot.

I want to thank my nephew Tim for giving me some valuable information on my truck as well as what I should have expected and got in the way of service from a 5 star Dodge dealership. Tim, thank you again for the help and the parts.

Jeannie is planning to head to California for this coming mothers day. We'll keep you informed.

Was going to trailer up to higher country and do some sledding, but decided to wait for fresh snow.

Talked to our friend Gary in Big Bear this morning. Some times I get a little home sick.

Still waiting to hear from Tim & Sue about there new toy. Guess I'll have to email them.

Don't forget to say hi when you stop by our blog. Don't come here if your board unless you just want to be put to sleep. I'll post more pics this week.

Saturday, March 13, 2004

It's like a heat wave has hit the Rockies. It's just sunny, warm and beautiful. My friend Randy and me were going to go sledding tomorrow. Was going to trailer up to the snow, but sleds don't run real well when it's to warm. At this altitude a minor change in air density will screw it all up. We don't have a lot of air up here in the first place. Don't believe me? Just try to have a conversion with one of the local lifers!
The drawback to the warm weather is the place is turning into a muddy mess. Or mud season as the locals refer to it. Of course this time of yare we could have a couple feet of snow on the ground this time next week.
Every body have a good one!! ;^)

Clicked on the Yahoo link to check out the slide show, it don't work! Shows a few then just stops. I swear to Christ nothing works for shit.
I stopped downloading to fotolog because it takes for ever, and I can only download one pic a day . You have 10 minutes to edit your text or change the pic before it becomes a permanet post. I downloaded a pic, realized it was the wrong pic, tried to replace it and couldn't because I had my daily download. Half the time my downloads with Yahoo don't take. What a bunch a crap.
Truck is doing fine, that's good.

I am going to finish my story but not in this post. I have an error in a previous post in which I have misspelled tow to read two. I tried to edit but my evening internet speed has become so slow that it's just a pain in the ass to do any thing on line that requires more than one page change. I'll fix it later, or maybe I won't. I was a student of the California educational system (LA). I can't write nor can I spell. I can read though, so of the three I guess I have mastered the most important.
I believe I have fixed my truck. When I had it fixed at the Chrysler dealership, a five star Chrysler dealership no less, they charged me $199 to install a new serpentine belt (serp belt). This was supposed to include an inspection to determine why the other belt failed. The Dodge mechanic that did the work was in the process of installing the new belt when I asked him about the tensioner. He told me it was a little off and I should replace it when I replaced the ever so slightly bent air pump pulley. They didn't have the air pump pulley in stock, and the mechanic never indicated that there was anything that had to be replaced then and there. As he said,"every thing is good". I might add, the mechanic never even inspected the tensioner until I questioned him about it's condition. I just know this by his reaction to my question. Further more, when the service manager brought me the figures to make the repairs, the only items that were addressed was, the new belt, which included removing the part of the belt that was wrapped around the fan, $199. Replacing the ever so slightly bent air pump pulley, which they didn't have in stock, $80. No mention of the part that was causing the problem.
My self and the guy across the street removed the belt, the tensioner assembly, installed the new assembly and belt in about 20 minutes. The belt is tracking on the tensioner where it is supposed to, unlike the old one, which you could see was pushing the belt out and away from the engine.
The belt that was installed at the dealership lasted just long enough for us to make it home, thank God. That's $130 worth of belts in three days. The tensioner was $120.
I'll do the tally when I have completed the story. You mean there's more?? You bet. I'll give ya all the last part in my next post. Stay tuned.
I ma sitting here waiting for a part for my truck. The serp belt shredded leaving us stranded on the east bound I 70 between Idaho springs and Evergreen. No biggie, we have road side service from Farmers. The problem was they couldn't find a two service for us. They found one in Evergreen, but they canceled saying they couldn't two our truck. So finally after an hour they found a tow company from Silverthorne, which is 60 or 70 miles to the west of us. It took about 3 hours and $250 to get hooked up and towed about 10 miles to Golden. That's on top of the $150 that Farmers payed. I had made arrangements to be towed to Christopher dodge world to have the repairs made. Being stranded with no access to a phone book, we were dependent on the info given by Farmers and the tow company.
Your probably thinking shame on you for not keeping your truck properly maintained, the serp belt was replaced about 6 to 7 months ago. Ya know, you don't want to get stranded with a broken belt, especially since our newer autos only have one belt.
I'll finish this a little later....yea there's more.

Hi Misty, welcome to our blog ;^)
I was going to tell you all about the last couple of days, but it took me so long to get here due to a major drop in connection speed that I am out of the mood.
Hi Donna, thanks for stopping by, and come see us again.
There is yet another new virus that appears to be from Microsoft, something to do with windows update. Microsoft doesn't email people...DELETE IT.
Man Jeannie and I had one hell of a day yesterday and it kept right on going today. I'll tell ya more about it but I have to go get me some more Zima!!
Careful...New virus making the rounds...DON'T OPEN ANY EMAIL ATTACHMENTS FROM ANY BODY YOU DON'T KNOW.

VIRUS HOAX:
There is an old virus hoax that has resurfaced and is making the rounds again.
If you get an email telling you that you have been given a virus by way of the senders address book, or contained in an attachment, and tells you to find and delete the file fdbgmgr.exe, with the teddy bear icon, ignore it.
You will have that file because it's a windows system file. There is a virus related to that file but it won't have the teddy bear icon. Norton has had a definition for it since 01.
Ant time you receive an email like that, check the Symantec data base before you do any thing. There have been a couple of hoax's that have you delete windows system files so you can screw up your own machine.
Fdbgmgr.exe is a javascript debugger and you probably wouldn't miss it unless your doing some javascript programming. Files should never be deleted unless you are sure of what they are, and you should always make a back up before you delete just in case.

Hi Tim & Sue..Welcome to our blog and thanks for stopping by. uuummm, new toy, wonder what it could be. Guess I'll just have to wait until I get the email. Great to hear from ya.
So Martha Stewart got convicted. I only mention it because it's all over the news. I was under the impression that investing in the market was done to make money, not loose it. Looks to me like another case of an over amped prosecutor looking to make a name for them self. I was also wondering how it is some how wrong for you or I to lie to the government, but ok for the government to lie to us.
It's snowing and supposed to snow all day. May get in some sledding today or tomorrow.

I moved the archives and links back up to the top of the page. I guess if your reading this you can see that.
I have added a couple more photos to the yahoo link. Would like to add a lot more, and I will, but they take time, and about half the time they fail to load. That's after 5 to 7 minutes of waiting. You would think they would load faster considering every thing is down hill from here!!
I see there is a new virus making the rounds. I guess there are several, I've had quit a few live updates over the past few days. The latest appears to come from your email account administrator and wants you to open an attachment that will straighten out your account. Don't open it.
As a regular viewer of The Screen Savers and Call for Help, I already knew about the new virus before I checked our email. I don't really have to worry about it any way, before any mail reaches our computer, it's scanned by our ISP which rejects any attachments that contain any executable code. Then it is scanned by Postini, which stops most spam and all infected mail. And finally every thing else is scanned by Norton as it's loaded into our computer. Out going mail goes through the same process. The chances of getting an infected email from us are pretty slim. There is free anti virus software available at grisoft.com that is supposed to be as good, if not better than Mc Affee, how ever you spell it, and Norton. There is no excuse for running an unprotected computer.

Jeannie had a nice "B" day. I got her an exercise thing that she wanted, and took her to dinner.
They said a storm was headed this way, then they said it wasn't, and, if you believe the news, all winter hell has broken out on the front range. 14" in Estes park, white outs on the interstates...yea yea yea!! Nothing here, well ok, we got like an inch. Just enough to be a nuisance.
Welcome to our blog Teresa. Thanks for letting us know you were here, and Jeannie loved her e card.

1:15pm It's a nice day here in the Rockies, sunny and warm.
The yahoo photo link at the bottom of the page has the most photos and I am trying to add more every day. The size of the photos and being on dial up takes a while. It says I can download like 10 at a time, but any more than 2 to 3 and it gets lost.
Tomorrow is Jeannies Happy "B" day...HAPPY "B" DAY JEAN JEAN ;^)
Gotta go look at a job...Every body have a good one........

I was beginning to wonder if the comment box was working. I see Glo has been here and left a message. Hi ya Glo!! We have been watching the weather hoping for some snow. Every body seems to be getting all kinds of precipitation but us. Every where bad winter weather, well every where but here. Sure would love to do a little more sledding. One thing about living in the Rockies, while you all will be enjoying spring it will still be winter here, at least until May so I guess there's always a chance.
The yahoo photo link at the bottom of the page under links is now functional. This is my first experience with html code and so far I haven't found it to be as easy as I've heard it's supposed to be.
The link seems to work now.
You can view this months posts by clicking on this months date under the archives header at the bottom of the page. Same with last months.
I may change the comments box to another format, to many commercials on this one. I have noticed a few pop ups since I installed it. I have the google tool bar with pop up blocker so I don't see them, it just makes a sound when they show up. I also have web surfer for pop up blocking but disabled it in favor of google. It's a beautiful day here in the Rockies so I think I'll go enjoy it while it lasts...
I set up a link to yahoo photo, under the other link on the side bar, which is now at the bottom of the page, but for some reason it doesn't work quit right yet. The other link which is in the text column below works. Gonna see what I did wrong and fix it, I hope.

I have been reading a lot of blogs since I started this one. A blog is a way for people to publish to the internet. Most blogs are like a diary or journal. Some are pretty interesting, most are pretty boring, just like this one. The reason I decided to publish a blog was to have a place where our friends and family could check on us and see what we were up to.
We have been shopping for a trailer or motorhome, and hope to hit the road again hopefully by the end of this coming summer. Last time we were out and about, we were out of contact with everyone for long periods of time, so this time around we want to keep in touch. We are hoping to have wireless internet as well as our cell phones, which can be used as a wireless modem, but just in case I'm looking for other options. A blog may come in handy. Any way that's why the blog. Besides it's been kinda fun to play with.
I have added OUR PHOTOS which is a link to fotolog where we have one pic so far. Tried to load another one today but it didn't work. I'll keep trying.
If any one comes here and has any problems viewing pics from the links, or has trouble leaving a message in the comment box, please email and let me know. I'm going to try to set the edit me links for the picture sites soon. I'm having some problems getting every thing to work as advertised. Nothing unusual, computer geeks are for the most part disfunctional sub humans, and can't help writing software that is like wise, disfunctional! It's not their fault, they just don't know any better.
To use the comment box, delete what ever is in the name box then put in yours, hit the tab key, type your message and then hit post. I'm sure you can figure it out, but just in case...love to hear from ya...Scott & Jeannie..
