We had a great weekend. The weather was perfect! Had a good turn out for the chili cook off. Fireworks on the lake this Saturday.

Information continues to make it out of Iran thanks to Twitter and people setting up proxy servers. Unofficial information sources are nothing new, it's just the sheer volume of people who have access now. For those of us who used to social network via CB, HAM and radio teletype, fresh first hand information was easy to come by. A large city may have had a few thousand HAM radio operators and maybe a few radio teletype operators. Most were easily found and shut down. There were always a few that were able to stay a step ahead of the government. Today there are millions of people carrying cell phones, a hand held device that has replaced what used to occupy an entire desk top, and that big tower in the back yard. And thanks to services like Twitter, with numerous access points, it is almost impossible to shut down.
The Iranian government has it's hands full and it looks like they are loosing the communication battle, at least for now.

SLIDE SHOW

Below is a slide show of photos e-smuggled from the election protest in Iran. If you don't like blood, I wouldn't watch.

IRAN

It looks like the Iranian government has had some success in blocking communications over social networks. Hopefully people will find ways around this and keep the information flowing.

CURRENT AFFAIRS

I am in full agreement with President Obama's reserved response to the Iranian election. We have a history of sticking our noses into the affairs of other nations, including Iran's. Lets wait and see how it plays out. "Iran Election Poses Dilemma for Obama Administration". That's a news headline. My opinion, bullshit!

WEATHER

Just had yet another system move in. Wind and rain with lightning. Is this ever going to end?

Sunday, June 14, 2009

Posted elk photos we took a couple weeks ago about a block from the house. The weather continues to suck! Beautiful mornings, rain and wind all afternoon. Were sure hoping it's not going to be like this all summer, there short enough!

I'm messing around with my i Google home page which lets me post to the blog from here. I don't understand why the profile page and the home page couldn't be one page. It's easier to post to the blog from here, but then I have to check the blog any way. What ever!
