I wanted to post this pic again so I could point out the river bed that is usually under Shadow Mt. lake. That is the head water of the Colorado river, or Grand river, as it once was known. We here think it's pretty cool that it's still there. It will be covered again in December. Posted by Picasa
Shadow Mountain lake isn't much more than 20 feet deep, and tends to develop heavy weed build up. By drawing down the water level, the weeds are killed off, and people who own property on the lake can make repairs to their docks.
Shadow Mountain lake is part of the Big Thompson water project which supply's water to the front range.
Pics by request...Shadow mountain lake from the bridge looking west and east to the cannel which connects Shadow Mt. to Grand lake. Shadow Mt. has been drained down 12 feet and will remain this way until December 1st.

I have added a couple new things. The first is weather for grand lake.
Second is a gabcast audio player. This replaces the old cell phone post system I used to use. It was supposed to inbed a new player for each new post, but I couldn't get it to work. When and if I do, I'll get rid of the side bar player. If you try to play a post and it shows a 0% load than I have deleted it. Try another one. I will be phone posting while we are on vacation next month so if you want to know where we are play the posts...

I borrowed this pic from Joes blog cause I didn't take any of my own. Our first big snow of the season. Posted by Picasa
Randy, there is a place to leave comments below each post on Joes blog. It says "comments" by golly, and I will get some pics of Shadow Mt after some of the snow melts off. Stay tuned!!
Were having a good winter storm today. Will post pics later.
